Cherilyn Johnston preforms her original songs and favorite hymns in a country, western swing style. Produced by Western Swing Hall of Fame steel guitar player, Albert Talley, Cherilyn’s vocals present the hymns as you have never heard.
Texas Country Music Association awarded Cherilyn as a finalist in the "2019 Christian Country Single of the Year." She also won Honorable Mention for "2019 Songwriter of the Year". Cherilyn has also been nominated for the Western Swing Female Artist Award and the Western Swing Album Award for 2018 by the Academy of Western Artists.
Since Cherilyn is from Texas, she has the western swing in her DNA. It has an energy that’s not associated with other styles, and carries the listener to a joyful, uplifting experience.
With fiddle, steel guitar, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, piano, and drums, the western swing music is a mix of Scottish/Irish fiddle music, Jazz, Swing, Dixieland, and Country. Cherilyn loves introducing and promoting Western Swing to new listeners of different generations. Few people know that The Official Music of Texas is Western Swing.
Cherilyn Johnston is an artist that sings, writes, and plays guitar, piano, and bass guitar. For the past 15 years she has served as the Band Leader at the Lone Star Cowboy Church of Ellis County in Red Oak, Texas, outside of Dallas.
